Details
The Dividing Sky is a dystopian novel set in the year 2460, following eighteen-year-old Liv Newman. Liv lives a lower-class life in the Metro and works as a Proxy, selling memories through a neurochip implanted in her brain, sometimes engaging in illegal activities to make money. She dreams of escaping her limited existence, and when a wealthy customer offers her a fortune for a dangerous mission in no-man's-land, she takes the risk, hoping it will bring her closer to freedom.
Meanwhile, rookie Forceman Adrian Rao is dedicated to upholding order and punishing those who disrupt society. He learns that a renegade Proxy's illegal memory dealings are harming people's brain chemistry, and he vows to stop the threat. However, when he tracks Liv down, he finds that her memories are missing—leaving her unaware of her past actions. As Adrian struggles with his duty to condemn her, Liv and Adrian are forced to work together, navigating the perilous world outside the Metro. Along the way, they develop a growing bond, questioning their identities, their roles in society, and whether there is another way of life beyond the oppressive system they know.
