House of Marionne follows Quell, a young girl burdened by a dangerous secret that has forced her and her mother to live a life of constant escape. After a confrontation with their pursuers, Quell and her mother are forced to separate. To do so, she must join a prestigious debutante society known as the Order, a group of magical elites who use a specific form of magic. If Quell can pass their three rites of membership, she will be able to lock away her dark powers and end the constant fear that has haunted her life.
